Securit is our new program geared for students who are interested in an entry level job in security. This can include security with BC Corrections, private organizations, security firms, or businesses that require security such as casinos and grocery stores.

Our program is unique in that it is 100% funded from the government, includes a two week work experience, and plenty of assistance in getting the skills you need to start on the right foot. This program includes training in things like records management, Microsoft Word, and internet security, as well as up to 5 STOCs.

Contact Us, or check out our Facebook page.

This program does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills. As such PTIB did not review this program.

The Secureit Program provides participants with the essential skills needed to work in the security industry. The program is designed to teach the nine essential skills as defined by Service Canada and viewed from the employer’s point of view, as well as more focused training for employment in the security industry.

SecureIt Certification, First Aid Level 1, CPR, WHMIS, gym membership with training for the COPAT, cyber security from Udemy

By the end of the program the participant should be prepared to work in an entry level position in a variety of jobs in the security industry including working in BC Corrections, private business and organization security, airport security, and more.

Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person legally entitled to work in Canada, living in British Columbia, and not a full time student.

Classes are scheduled for a mandatory five hours per day, five days a week. Class time is scheduled from 9:00 – 2:30 daily, with additional lab time after class. It is highly recommended that all participants plan to spend a minimum of six hours a day at the Centre.

Dependent upon need, supports could include attendance support, living support, re-location assistance, wage subsidies, scholarships, completion rewards, travel or other supports needed to complete the program. As this is an employment program many of the supports are based on an individual’s need, once the participant is employed or furthering their education.

Participants will be evaluated through participation, attendance, and attitude throughout the program as well as securing employment, or further training, upon completion of the program. Third party STOCs will have their own form of evaluation.

As part of the Secureit Program, participants are required to complete a two week work experience. CVTC will work with employer partners to identify possible training place hosts for participants based on previous work experience and suitability.
